Connect your AI

2 min read

Connect FinWise to your AI assistant, like Grok, Claude or ChatGPT, then ask it about your spending, budgets, balances, and net worth.

Ask your AI to set it up

Paste this into your AI. It will add FinWise, or give you the exact steps for that app:

Connect FinWise to this assistant. FinWise is a personal finance app. If FinWise is listed in your connectors, plugins or apps, use that listing. If it isn't, add it as a custom remote MCP connection with this URL: https://api.finwiseapp.io/mcp. If you can't add it yourself, give me the exact steps for this app. I'll sign in to FinWise in my browser, so never ask me for my password.

In your AI, add a new connection or custom connector, then paste your FinWise connection link:

https://api.finwiseapp.io/mcp

Sign in when your browser opens

Your browser will open FinWise. Sign in and choose what the AI can see. Then go back and ask about your money. Never give your AI your password.

Try asking

β€’ What did I spend last week?

β€’ What are my balances right now?

β€’ How is my budget tracking this month?

β€’ What is my net worth?

Common questions

Which AI assistants work with FinWise?

Any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server, including Grok, Claude and ChatGPT. Where FinWise has an official listing, you can install it from there. Otherwise, use the setup prompt or the connection link on this page.

Can my AI move my money?

No. FinWise has read-only access to your banks, so neither it nor your AI can move money. Your AI sees only what you allow when you sign in. It can read your data by default, and can change things in FinWise, like budgets and categories, only if you turn that on.

How do I see which AI assistants are connected?

In the FinWise web app, go to Settings > MCP connections. You can see each connected assistant and its permissions.

How do I remove access from my AI assistant?

In the FinWise web app, go to Settings > MCP connections and click Revoke next to the assistant. You can connect it again later if you want to.
